My 2c on routers. I have a Sears with 1/4" collet only. The depth adjustment
is a rack and pinion which is calibrated in 64ths of an inch. A jam screw
on the side opposite the rack and pinion locks the depth. The calibrations
may as well be in feet--there is so much lash in the assembly that depth
setting can only be done by many trials and errors. Depth adjustment by
the router base threaded to the router barrel is far superior. I don't
recommend this Sears router, except to masochists.
