I cancelled my back ordered Delta and decided to get the Ryobi instead.
With the money I saved on the saw, I decided I could purchase some
accessories and buy a biscuit joiner. I like the idea of using
part of the table to mount a router. With the accuracy of the fence
and a beefed up router (next purchase), I figure I can come pretty
close to resolving my needs for a shaper.
The saw took me a whole 10 minutes to unbox and mount to the stand.
(The stand took me 45 minutes... another story.) It seems to be in
allignment according to the tape that came with it. I do like
all of the niceties about the saw like the sliding mitre table.
There are two things that I don't really like about the saw:
It is a direct drive mechanism. If you bind the blade it potentially
could cause damage to the motor. On belt mechanisms the belts slide
or pop off.
The blade protector is a real pain to remove. If you get the saw,
don't mount the protector until you do the allignment. You could get
upset. Oh... it isn't that bad but it is not convenient.
Other than those two gripes, I am really happy with the machine.
