I have been considering buying a plunge router myself. I would approciate
any advise concerning the following routers: BOSCH 1611 VS and ELU 3338. Both
are variable speed, the ELU has a slightly lower horsepower rating but I like
the depth adjustment better. Two concerns I have, (1) I have several
attachments for my current Sears router I would like to continue to use with
the new router so the new router needs to have the same base configuration.
I know the ELU does, but I have not seen the BOSCH except in a catelogue, and
(2) I read an article in WOOD mag. that discussed the locking mechinism. Thet
discussed the differences between a positive lock and a spring loaded lock.
The springloaded lock was preferred because it was less likely to slip from
vibration, etc. This will be my firtst plunge router, so any advise, including
any other router I should consider, would be appreciated.
BTW - my other "requirement" is 2-3HP.

I first bought a sears router, and after turning it upside down in a
router table, found that its adjustment mechanism, the measuring ring
and lock nut similar to PC's, was really horrible upside down! I
replaced it with a BD which uses a rack, pinion and dial, which IMO is
less sensitive to gravity. But the motor does't pop out of the base
and into a plunge base...
