My solution was to buy the 691 - "D" handle for general use since, I
felt that it provided much better control of the router. When I constructed my
router table I purchased another extra base for a 690 and mounted it permenatly
under the table. Kinda like the best of both worlds. I did find that it was
nearly impossible to easily adjust the depth using the 691 base in the
table. Want is nice is the shorter power cord and the switches provided by
this setup. The extra 690 base cost me $35 at a wood show from a vendor
who had just made a base swap in order to make up a router with a plunge
base. However, these bases are now listed by PC to be sold seperate for
just this purpose. I think the PN is 1101 (?).
