I have the Makita, and I think that you would have to try real hard to
get the knives in wrong. I did knick the first side of my first set of knives
more quickly than I would have thought, but when one side goes bad the other
is ready. I did get a little extra mileage out of the knicked knives by sliding
each knife a little, one to the left the other to the right.
I am extremely happy with the machine. I can repeatedly and dependably remove
0.01" from a board. the finish is so nice I do not sand after planing.
