Jumper Setting
==============

Indicator LED
-------------
The indicator (LED) on the front bezel lights up while the HDD
executes a command. An external LED can also be lighted through the
-SLV/ACT signal terminal on the same condition by setting the strap
S0 to ON.

Straps
------
The setting method for the straps, S1 and S2, should be changed
according to the number of the HDDs connected as shown in the
following table.

 Functions of straps
  +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+
  | Strap No.| Function                                              |
  +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+
  | S0       | Changes over the function of the -SLV/ACT output      |
  |          | signal.                                               |
  |          | ON  : The -ACTIVE signal is selected. The external LED|
  |          |       can be lighted up at the -SLV/ACT signal        |
  |          |       terminal.                                       |
  |          | OFF : The -SLAVE PRESENT signal is selected.          |
  +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+
  | S1       | Selects whether one HDD is used singly, or two HDDs   |
  |          | are used in daisy chain connection.                   |
  |          | ON  : Two HDDs are used.                              |
  |          | OFF : Only one HDD is used.                           |

  | S2       | Selects the master drive or slave drive.              |
  |          | OFF : Only one unit used, or master drive with two    |
  |          |       units used.                                     |
  |          | ON  : Slave drive with two units used.                |

  | S3       | Changes over the -I/O CH RDY output signal.           |
  |          | OFF : The -I/O CH RDY signal is not output.           |
  |          | ON  : The -I/O CH RDY signal is output.               |

 Notes: 1. ON  : Strap short
           OFF : Strap open

        2. At the shipping of the HDD, the strap S0 is set to ON, S1
           to OFF, S2 to ON, S3 to ON.
