- 'Priscilla Bonner' (qv) was originally cast as Esther because
'John Barrymore' (qv)'s first choice, then-love 'Mary Astor' (qv), was
unavailable. Before filming started he met and fell for
'Dolores Costello' (qv) and replaced Bonner with her.
