* Ingredients:
1 c. pinto beans, uncooked
4 c. water
1 t. salt
1 c. barley
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
½ medium onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, finely chopped
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
½ c. parsley flakes
3 c. water
Salt and Accent to taste
* Directions:
Add pinto beans to 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Turn off
the heat, and let stand for 1 hour. Add salt, and cook until beans
are partially tender. Add remaining ingredients, and simmer until
all ingredients are tender and the flavors are well blended. Add
additional liquid and seasonings as desired.
