* Ingredients:
½ c. low-fat milk
2 T. honey
1 t. salt
2 T. light margarine
2 T. baker's yeast
½ c. warm water
3-4 c. whole wheat flour
1 egg white
1 T. water
Sesame or poppy seeds
* Directions:
Scald milk; add honey, salt, and margarine, and let cool to
lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add yeast and 1½ cups flour
to the lukewarm milk mixture; beat until smooth. Slowly add
remaining flour to form stiff dough. Turn dough out onto a floured
board and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl
and cover; let rise until double in size. Roll into a 16x8-inch
rectangle. Cut dough into ½x8-inch strips. Roll each strip by hand
into a pencil shape. Place the sticks onto greased cookie sheets
and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes. Brush sticks with
mixture of 1 egg white and 1 T. of water. Sprinkle with sesame or
poppy seeds. Bake at 400°F for 10-15 minutes.
