I have an old ( about 10 years ) craftsman that I use only lightly - mostly
formica triming - and still serves me well. Last year I needed the 1/2 inch
collet and got the Hitachi TR-12, which is now the one I reach for.

A word of WARNING about the craftsman. On mine the handle has a trigger
on the handle that is coupled to the actual switch ( inside the motor housing)
by a flexible cable. I thought that cable was an electrical cable not
mechanical, but a professional carpenter told me that he bumped the cable
on his against something and the router started very unexpectedly - without
the trigger being pressed!! If you get one of this variety, be VERY CAREFULL.
Actually be very carefull whatever router you get.
