38 Recommendations for 1/2" router sought

From: wlh@ihlpl.ATT.COM (Bill Hoberecht)

I'm about to purchase a 1/2" collet router. Some time ago I posted
a request for recommendations for this size router and was disappointed
to receive no responses.

All the same, I thought that I would try one more time before
making the purchase.

I'm leaning towards the Makita 3hp plunge model. Other models look fine to
me (Milwaukee, Porter-Cable . . .) but the added cost doesn't seem justified.
Other imports (Hitachi, Ryobi . . .) don't seem to have Makita's quality.

Do you have any experience or recommendations for 1/2" routers that
you could share?

Also, I'm looking for recommendations for 1/2" shank cabinet making
bits (stile/rail, door lip, glue joint, etc).
