I can't help wanting to get my two cents in here. The Delta 14" open
base is the way to go. I routinely resaw 11" wide Cherry with the 1/2 hp
motor. The trick is use a 1/4" skip tooth blade ($6 each from Midwest
Shop Supply) and a fence 8"+ high. A wider blade won't do it and using a
single pivot point as a fence is near impossible to manage alone. Tarheel
has the Delta now for only $499. The next decent US made machine that can
resaw wide boards is the bottom of the line DoAll at about 2 grand. A
superb machine but not practical for a hobbyist. DoAll also makes the
best blades. There are DoAll factory stores in most states. Buying blades
from Woodcraft is expensive and the welds are substandard. Lee Richmond
